These rings were cocktail picks.
Before they became rings, they sat on a table somewhere in Germany, each one stamped with a crescent moon and a crown. That is the official hallmark of the German silver assay system, and it tells you everything: 80% pure silver, certified and tested. The ornate flower on the face of each ring was pressed into the silver by a craftsperson during the Jugendstil or early Art Deco period, somewhere between 1900 and 1940. That detail has existed for over eighty years.
I sawed off the sharp tip, polished the silver, then bent the handle by hand in the Netherlands into a ring band. The ornate bloom that was always there became the face of the ring.
Two band styles, one ring
The five smaller sizes (up to 13.5 mm) form a spiral band. The handle curves around itself, making the origin of the pick visible and part of the design. From 20 mm onward, the band opens into a rounded shape that sits flush on the finger. Both styles are open at the back, allowing for some natural flexibility in fit. The ornate silver bloom is the same on every ring.
Each ring carries the original German hallmarks on the band: the crescent moon, the crown, and the number 800. Look closely and you will find them.

Voor zij ringen werden, stonden ze op een tafel ergens in Duitsland, elk gestempeld met een halve maan en een kroon. Dat is het officiële keurteken van het Duitse zilver-waarborgkeuringssysteem en het vertelt je alles: 80% puur zilver, gecertificeerd en getest. De sierbloem op het gezicht van elke ring werd in het zilver gedrukt door een vakman tijdens de Jugendstil of vroege Art Deco periode, ergens tussen 1900 en 1940. Dat detail bestaat al meer dan tachtig jaar.
Ik zaagde het scherpe puntje eraf, polijstte het zilver, en boog daarna het handvat met de hand in Nederland tot een ringband. De sierbloem die er altijd al was, werd het gezicht van de ring.
Twee bandvormen, één ring
De vijf kleinere maten (tot en met 13.5mm) vormen een spiraalband. Het handvat krult om zichzelf heen, waardoor de herkomst van de prikker zichtbaar en onderdeel van het ontwerp wordt. Vanaf 20 mm opent de band zich tot een ronde vorm die vlak op de vinger rust. Beide stijlen zijn open aan de achterkant, wat enige natuurlijke flexibiliteit in pasvorm biedt. De sierbloem is op elke ring hetzelfde.
Elke ring draagt de originele Duitse keurtekens op de band: de halvemaan, de kroon en het getal 800. Kijk goed en je vindt ze terug.
Gelimiteerd tot 8. Eén per maat. Als een maat weg is, is hij weg.
