The story

Well, this is going to be personal. But you know, I also want to be open about this journey, so here we go!

I was ill and I couldn’t go on as I wanted with creating my usual art (playing music in bands and fine art photography). Thus I needed another outlet. As I was getting more and more restricted by my illness I was searching for something I could do from my bed. I started crocheting. I have a habit of picking up a new hobby in the December month - I don't know why, it’s coincidental - so a year later I started knitting. The following December I started weaving with beads to create bracelets and by then I was on a long waiting list for another surgery I needed. I had ordered the supplies for getting into silver clay. The surgery changed my life. Or rather, I had my life back! I slowly started to pick up some of the things I loved again and I started making silver jewellery.

One of the illnesses I have is endometriosis/adenomyosis. It’s a hormone illness which among other things creates tissue in places it shouldn’t exist. I needed two surgeries wherein the last one my uterus (and other body parts) had to be removed. At this moment in time, I can’t talk about it that much because I’m still processing the loss of this organ and the loss of years in my life. It’s a kind of grief which still needs to find its healing. And that’s ok. I’m also very grateful that I get to create all of this art. My sweet boyfriend urged me to start selling the things I create and now it’s official, Moonlit Manor, a sustainable and ethical fashion house! A big goal has been accomplished to create something of my own, something I can add to whenever I have the energy for it. I like sharing it with you and I hope you will enjoy it too :).
