These rings were spoons.
Before they became rings, they were made in Schoonhoven, the silver city of the Netherlands, by a family of silversmiths called Pluut. The hallmark on each piece tells the story: a Dutch sword mark with 925 inside, the official certification of first-grade Dutch sterling silver, 92.5% pure. The baroque engraving on the face of each ring and the twisted cord along the band edge are original. They were pressed into the silver by hand, in the Netherlands, over a century ago.
I sawed off the tip of each spoon, polished the silver, then bent the bowl by hand into a ring band. The engraving became the face of the ring. The cord edge became the detail that makes it unmistakable.
Made in the Netherlands then. Made in the Netherlands now.
This ring is wide and substantial. It sits on the finger the way a statement piece should: present, unhurried, certain of itself. Wear it alone or stack it with other rings. The open back allows for flexibility across sizes.
Each ring carries its original Dutch hallmarks on the inside of the band. The sword. The number 925. The maker's mark of a silversmith family that worked in Schoonhoven for generations.
Limited to 6. When a size is gone, it is gone.
